Statistics: Andy Field’s site

One of the required books for level 3 Psychology is Andy Field’s “Discovering Statistics Using SPSS”.  The book is a veritable compendium of Statistical Wisdom.   Beyond this the Andy has a excellent site called Statistics Hell with a lot of extra resources to help you with understanding Statistics and using SPSS.  There are sets of handout and podcasts taken mainly from his lecture courses. The handouts are particularly very useful.  I haven’t listened to the podcasts but he does indicate that they could contain “themes of a sexual nature and material and language that some people may find offensive”,  which sounds promising.  The statistics resources are split into info for Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced.  These are named after the different layers of hell in Dante’s Inferno He also has his version of the Report Writing Guide [opens a pdf file].

The look of site shows what happens when recovering metal fans are allowed to do their own web design.  I genuinely believed that I would never again see an animated GIF of blood dripping.
